Focus on the hydrogen economy: Proton Motor presents stationary product portfolio at four H2 technology trade fairs until mid-2024

The new “HyModule® S4” product development, which Proton Motor Fuel Cell announced in the media at the beginning of the year, will be officially presented for the first time at “HyVolution Paris 2024”. Proton Motor will be exhibiting at the world’s leading trade fair for hydrogen technology from January 30 to February 1 at booth no. 4F52. With the relocation of “E-world energy & water” to its traditional date in the winter quarter – and thus a step towards normality after exceptional years in the past – this trade fair venue from 20 to 22 February is also a must at booth no. 5H118 for the Bavarian fuel cell expert as a player in the energy industry.

Proton Motor’s industrial innovation capability at Hannover Messe`s “Hydrogen + Fuel Cells Europe”

More than 500 companies will be showcasing their products for the use of hydrogen in industry at this year’s “Hannover Messe”. This makes the trade fair location in Lower Saxony the world’s most important and largest one for the hydrogen economy. From 22 to 26 April, users of the H2 key technology will be able to get a holistic picture of the innovative and competitive capabilities of Proton Motor hydrogen fuel cells at the “Hydrogen + Fuel Cells Europe” industry platform.

A live home match for the HyModule® S4 launch will be made possible by participation in “ees Europe” in the state capital of Munich in June 2024. To mark the occasion, the sales team at booth no. B2.450H also has a focus on the modular turnkey power plant “HyShelter® 240”. The core components of the containerised Proton Motor solution for the generating of electrical and thermal energy, which has already established itself as a bestseller since its market maturity in 2021, are based on three “HyFrame®” systems.

Highlight of the week: Product launch of new Proton Motor hydrogen fuel cell system “HyModule® S4”

This week, the parent company “Proton Motor Power Systems plc” of Proton Motor Fuel Cell GmbH reported for the first time in a stock exchange announcement about the introduction of the new fuel cell system solution HyModule® S4. The new system offers a simple ‘plug and play’ solution for markets seeking an emission-free energy source alternative to traditional diesel and natural gas generators. This includes residential housing, small industrial complexes as well as emergency and off grid power supply seeking seasonal energy storage and combined heat and power applications.

The HyModule® S4 product is designed to offer a lower power range, using Proton Motor’s proprietary “HyStack® 200” liquidcooled fuel cell technology. The introduction of this new product will be complementary to the Company’s existing stationary application offerings, including the higher power system “HyModule® S8”.

Dr. Faiz Nahab, CEO of Proton Motor, said: “We are pleased to announce the introduction of our HyModule® S4 system, developed to deliver hydrogen solutions to smaller power generation needs. The successful presentation of this new product reaffirms the Company’s commitment to commercialisation, through the continuous development and refinement of our hydrogen technology, as well as the increasing interest in innovative hydrogen technology to support the energy transition.”

New H2 project for decarbonised perspectives: Grant from German ministry as part of Energy Research Programme

Proton Motor Fuel Cell GmbH is pleased to receive a grant provided by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) as part of the Energy Research Programme. Proton Motor has been selected as part of a consortium of partners, including GKN Hydrogen GmbH, to develop a “modular, renewable and self-sufficient energy supply using H2 technology”. The grant for the new project, offically titled with the acronym „MarrakEsH“, will be received by Proton Motor across a period of 36 months and the quantum receivable will match the company’s investments in the project by 50 percent. The size of the grant is therefore not known at this stage, however, Proton Motor estimates that it will be eligible to receive up to approximately EUR 300,000 over the 36 month period.

46 Proton Motor HyModule® S8 products for integration into GKN’s HY2 energy systems

GKN Hydrogen Italy S.r.l. is a long-term customer of Proton Motor Fuel Cell and – with GKN Hydrogen GmbH – part of GKN, the Aerospace, Automotive and Powder Metallurgy international business controlled by Melrose Industries plc. The order for the delivery of 15 HyModule® S8 hydrogen fuel cell systems (see product photo) has just been completed as per the follow-up order announced on January 31, 2023. GKN Hydrogen is integrating the emisson-free product HyModule® S8 for stationary applications into their “HY2” branded green energy storage systems. Following the completion of this follow-up order, Proton Motor has successfully delivered a total of 46 HyModule® S8 hydrogen fuel cell systems to GKN Hydrogen.

Hydrogen Fuel Cell – An Element of the Energy Transition | New Position Paper on the market potential of stationary applications

The 2023 symposium of IMB Energy Systems GmbH recently took place on two exciting days. The event was dedicated to central issues such as the secure power supply as well as the current challenges arising from energy generation and supply. Proton Motor Executive Board member Sebastian Goldner (CTO & COO; in the picture on the left with Proton Motor CEO Dr. Faiz Nahab in front of the emission-free HyFrame® system) was invited to give a lecture on the topic “Hydrogen Fuel Cell – An Element of the Energy Transition“.

Decentralised, local hydrogen fuel cell markets as nuclei for the energy transformation and to secure Germany as an industrial location

In the context of energy policy, Manfred Limbrunner, Director Investor Relations and Communication at Proton Motor (see image below/right), and Christoph Pauli (Governmental Affairs & Funding) are currently heavily involved in transporting the hydrogen fuel cell message to the stationary energy sector as a proton motor statement. In addition to numerous exciting and highly informative discussions with members of the German Bundestag, the programme also included an exchange with NOW GmbH, the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action and the German Energy Agency (dena) as well as participation in the parliamentary evening of the German Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Association (DWV).

The aim of the activities in the capital was to raise awareness among various stakeholders and players to the stationary hydrogen fuel cell market as well as to analyse the future economic potential of the present by means of a new political Proton Motor Position Paper dated November 7, 2023.

Achieving the goal of climate neutrality: “GO-Start Fuel Cell” Initiative | Maritime #zeroemission e-SHyIPS navigation

How can the production and market ramp-up of fuel cells in Germany be supported? This is one of the questions posed by the “GO-Start Fuel Cell” innovation cluster of the Fuel Cells Working Group of the German Engineering Association (VDMA). At the 2-day workshop in Frankfurt in October with over 60 participants (view image_(c) VDMA) from various industries, the aspect of cost reduction was examined from all sides, including interactions of the fuel cell system components. Proton Motor Technical Manager Frank Erne co-organised the workshop, gave a lecture and led a working group on the topic of “Requirements for Balance-of-Plant (BoP) Components”.

In the previous month, Thomas Wannemacher (Funding Projects / Patents) had represented Proton Motor Fuel Cell at the “European Fuel Cells and Hydrogen Conference” in Capri (pictured right_(c) e-SHyIPS). For this purpose, the project partners of e-SHyIPS were invited to present the #onthewaveofhydrogen project progress. In addition, the fourth e-SHyIPS General Assembly has now taken place in Athens in October. The e-SHyIPS project aims to define the new guidelines for an effective introduction of hydrogen in maritime passenger transport sector and to boost its adoption within the global and EU strategy for a clean and sustainable environment, towards the accomplishment of a zero-emission navigation scenario.
